CURRENT and FINISHED PROJECTS
ME 109E Profile

The halfA ME 109E is one of several designs I came up with a few years ago as a winter project. I wanted to return to the days of yore when airplane modelling was lots of fun. The planes were small, inexpensive and easy to build. Engines are still easy to come by, i.e., Cox, OK Cub, Wen Mac, Holland Hornet, K&B. Today, most of these old engines can still be found on EBAY at low prices. The OK Cub engines are still being manufactured and sold by Herkimer Metal Works. (See information on my other site).

Construction is easy and can be completed for under $40 (including engine). There are five other designs: P-51, P-47, P-40, ME 209R, and KI-61. The main idea behind these planes is just plan fun RACING.

About The ME 109E

The plans for these little planes as well as some simple competition rules are available on my Mouse Racing Planes site. There is also much information concerning control line, engines and Diesels. The specs. for these planes are:

  • Span -- 17"

  • Engine -- .049 - .061

  • Construction -- Balsa, Ply (profile fuselage).

These can be built for under $40 including engines. Finishing can be dope or polyurethane from your local hardware store. Less than a weekend is all it takes.
